My client is an exciting Luxury Menswear / Women’s wear fashion brand whose aesthetic is a fusion between lux and leisurewear, a perfect equilibrium of youthful comfort and elegance.

They have seen explosive growth since there set up 2 years ago and are introducing an accessories collection so are currently recruiting for a highly experienced Bag designer / Product developer.

They are looking for a candidate who matches the fit of there creative taste – Luxury fashion with vintage references. Someone who really understands current trends.

The role will initially start as a part time freelance opportunity, however depending on fit they will consider a permanent contract.

The Role:

  • Design and develop the men’s and women’s bag collection in line with brand aesthetic demonstrating product knowledge, ownership, quality and attention to detail.
  • Source and develop components and raw materials.
  • Plan production with suppliers. Communicate minimums, cancellations and adjustment of orders between the business controller and buyers to factories,
  • Researching leather, techniques and components working with tanneries and vendors in Europe and Asia.
  • Development of Product Designs with suppliers from prototype make-up to finished product.
  • Prepare initial technical packs and launching sketches with vendors.
  • Attending prototype and sign off meeting. BOM Management.
  • Responsible for final product review with QA, Production and Creative director.
  • Ensure product meets commercial objectives in terms of costings and margin striking a balance between creativity and commerciality.
  • Cost and margin analysis as well as Negotiation of product costs with suppliers.

Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years related Luxury bags design and product development experience
  • Knowledge of leather and PU (Polyurethane) material.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Able to effectively prepare and present information in a visually compelling way, able to articulate creative concepts to a broad audience
  • Knowledge in current trends and the ability to interpret trends
  • Experience working effectively in complex global operations
  • Knowledge of product design, construction techniques, and appropriate use of materials, including extensive knowledge and full understanding of product design including outsole construction techniques, last making, materials, color.
