Production Technologist

Create have partnered with an elegant and bold RTW fashion house based in East London, who are currently are seeking a Production Technologist.

Responsibilities include:

  • Fittings
    • Attendance of all production fittings, with Development Technologists. To facilitate an understanding of styles & gather history of changes for handover to QC assistants.
    • To co – ordinate and book all PP fittings. Ensuring availability of QC, & DEV GT
    • To lead all PP fittings with the relevant QC & DEV GT. To decide a reasonable split of issues to resolve between Prod Tech & DEV GT
    • To issue updated Fit Notes with action post fitting
  • Pattern Management
    • Liaising with Production Manager to understand the criteria for prioritisation in order to manage the pattern priority in the CP
    • To attend a weekly meeting with pattern room to update on sealing status and re work prioritisation where necessary
    • To monitor late seal styles and follow up with PC & development
    • Updating of the CP
    • To send Pre-sealed patterns to grade, raise & issue grade PO’s, and monitor return of graded patterns
    • To check lay plans, costings and carry out Final Seal by adding to Spec Book, update trims sheet with approved costings
    • To check graded measurements and pass to QC
    • To fully understand the factory requirements in terms of Pattern grades (file, paper, card)
    • To resolve any pattern formatting issues / from factory.
    • To Understand Requirement of Illustrator files for Artworking, Print Placement and Embroidery.
    • Upon Allocation – to create the Style Book for each manufacturer.
  • Spec Sheets and PP comments
  • Upon completion of Full Seal : To carry out full handover to relevant QC, referring to notes made during Production fittings. (Inspect and sign off on garment spec sheets ensuring that all relevant fit notes, make comments, lay plans and finishing details are communicated to the factories)
  • To assist with Specs when QC’s are out of the studio
  • To inspect all PP samples and provide feedback for QC to comment
  • To assist with PP comments when QC is out of Studio
  • To oversee the in studio QC procedure, ensuring guidelines are followed, by the QC’s and Interns
  • To Review the External QC report & authorise shipment in absence of relevant QC
  • To review any issues highlighted in the External QC report and advise how to best resolve.
  • To build strong relationships with all manufacturers, reacting effectively if a technical issue is raised, visiting their premises when necessary in order to find resolutions
  • To take responsibility of all sales queries relating to new product (i.e. style classification documents)
  • Respond to product queries, including complaints in order to remedy issues or improve upon for future collections ?? or Lavinia??
  • Working closely with Development team
  • To take responsibility of WADS & E-com Fit notes
  • Sign Off of relevant invoices relating to area (pattern grading, fittings)


  • Must come from a similar role, with 3-5 years’ experience with luxury products ideally, and preferably exposure to broad product categories
  • This staff member needs to be highly detail oriented and well organized. The role requires being capable of working unsupervised in a fast paced environment and therefore requires strong common sense abilities
  • Must be able to work well within a team and be able to delegate in order to achieve deadlines
  • Understanding of grading, Layplans, costings and knowledge of pattern cutting is expected along with a good understanding of Garment Construction techniques.
  • Experience in quality inspections on garments against test reports to ensure goods comply with British standard requirements
