Create have teamed up with a luxury womenswear brand based in London, seeking a Senior Fabrics And Trims Developer.

Job Description:

A studio-based role, managing the end-to-end sourcing and development process for all Fabrics used within each collection. Working collaboratively with the Creative Director and Design Manager. Reporting into the Development and Production Director.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Creative Director, Design Manager and Merchandiser to ensure that all collection developments are adhering to both creative brief and commercial requirement.
  • Introducing new suppliers to the creative team where the brief dictates.
  • Daily communication with raw material suppliers to ensure that the sampling critical path is maintained and deadlines adhered to.
  • Working closely with technical team to ensure all fabrics are tested and fit for purpose. Supporting the Production team where needed should an issue arise.
  • Management of seasonal budget ensuring all planned spends are mapped out and costs tracked throughout the season. Negotiating with suppliers where needed.
  • Working with Development Director and Merchandiser to ensure that seasonal margin is being reached.
  • Managing the Assistant Product Developer, ensuring that their workload is prioritised and the trims developments that they focus on is running to schedule with appropriate selections being presented to the Creative Team.
  • Visiting trade fairs / supplier showrooms when necessary and building relationships with new suppliers according to company’s needs.
  • Collating prices and production information, creating a comprehensive and accurate handover of information from Development to Production.
  • Managing the creation and maintenance of all charts and presentation boards, ensuring all information is up to date
  • Managing the data input with regards to raw materials through Zedonk software system
  • Managing the creation of handover books to production
  • Participation in pre-show activities
  • Maintaining archive information
  • Analysis of working practice and process to ensure that workflow evolves accordingly


  • At least 5-8 years proven experience within European sourcing / suppliers
  • An acute knowledge and technical understanding of fabric development and sourcing
  • Strong costing and negotiation skills, analytical and problem solving
  • Experience and understanding of sustainable practices and alternatives would be beneficial
  • Initiative and drive, working well independently as well as part of a team
  • Organised and efficient and critical path focused
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly proficient in MS office applications
  • Zedonk / PLM / PDM experience would be an advantage
