Create have teamed with a men’s and women’s wear brand whose Inspiration comes from London’s east end and international street culture
The design department consists of a small team based in London, Shoreditch.
Who are looking for a new garment technologist that will divide their time between the men’s and womenswear. The job role consist largely of garment technologist duties as well as some aspects of a production manager role. They are looking for someone that is hands on and who can own the role. They are a small team who are involved in the product from start to finish.
About the role
Product development for Main collections and specials: Men’s and Women’s
- Keep excel development worksheet up to date for each season.
- Liaise with and advise designers on garment construction and correct finishes for the brand.
- Advise print designers on correct print placement for the garment.
- Assisting designers with size specs and correct blocks to use for factory tech packs.
- Measuring and logging all development samples.
- Organise and carry out fitting sessions for all development samples with designers.
- Complete all detailed production comments for factories to follow (comments must be clear for overseas workrooms to understand). Liaise with all factories regarding garment construction issues.
- Returning samples to appropriate factories, follow up and chase development samples with factories to keep to season timeline.
- SMS must be measured, photographed fitted and logged.
- PPS must be requested and approved where appropriate before production.
- Wearer trials to be requested when needed.
- All grading must be approved before bulk production.
- Fabrics and colour must be approved before bulk production
Pattern cutting:
- Request paper patterns from factories to inspect and adjust major fit problems manually (sleeves etc.)
- Minor pattern adjustments.
Production:
- Approve all composition and wash care labels.
- Approve and develop all trims and swing tickets.
Admin:
- Devise the time line each season for the design team and all factories to work towards.
- Excel work sheets; all samples must be logged for new season.
- Chasing samples to arrive on time for SMS.
- SMS worksheet per factory; completed each season and up to date with all fabric compositions and wash care instructions.
- Assisting with CAD information for show room book.
- Customer garment complaints to be investigated and filed.
- Agents require a worksheet with major fit changes for SMS.
- Measuring and logging all samples.
- Assisting the warehouse with any garment queries.
- Adjust/update Religion body spec if required.
- Advertise for fitting models.
About you
- 5 years experience as a garment tech in a fashion company/ supplier required
- Able to use photoshop, illustrator, excel and word
- Experience with and/ or knowledge of patterns: being able to make small pattern adjustments
- We require the applicant to be flexible and divide their time between the Men’s and women’s collection
- The applicant needs to hands on and help out wherever needed
- The applicant needs to be able to work independently and show initiative
- The applicant needs to be confident and able to work in a fast pace environment
- Multi product experience a must
- Must have extensive knowledge of grading and tech packs
- The applicant needs to be organised and be able to work autonomously
