At Create we are looking for a highly skilled couture seamstresses to join a luxury fashion studio in Kent on an ongoing freelance basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a family-run environment creating high-end made-to-measure and bespoke women’s evening wear, special occasion wear, and bridal couture.
This role is ideal for experienced machinists who are passionate about luxury garment making and take pride in delivering exceptional quality.
About the role…
Construct and sew client orders, as well as assist in making new samples and toiles.
Work on garments from start to finish, ensuring precision and a high-end finish.
Confidently use industrial sewing machinery, including flatbed, zig-zag, overlocker, and embroidery machines.
Handle a wide range of fabrics, including silk, satin, lace, sequins, velvet, jacquard, tulle, and stretch fabrics. Training can be provided for those less familiar with stretch fabrics.
Perform hand sewing for fine finishing of garments to the highest standards.
Collaborate with designers and pattern cutters to support sample collections and bespoke client orders.
Adapt to new designs and demonstrate creative problem-solving while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
About you…
At least 3 years of experience as a machinist within luxury garment making.
Skilled in couture garment construction methods and finishing techniques.
Strong machine and hand sewing skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Comfortable working with a variety of fabrics, including stretch and embellished materials.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a studio team.
Dedicated, proactive, and flexible, with a positive attitude and commitment to quality.
Open to freelance work on an ongoing basis, becoming a relied-on member of the team.

High-standard sewing and finishing using industrial machines.
Knowledge of a variety of fabrics: silk, satin, chiffon, crepe, tulle, velvet, sequins, lace, jacquard, wool, and stretch fabrics.
Couture garment construction knowledge.
Hand sewing for fine finishes (buttons, hook & eye, facings, zips, lining).
Ability to work to deadlines and adapt to bespoke client requirements.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
