Create have teamed with an award winning designer who counts many high profile women among her clients. Known for their modern Sillouettes and strong use of colour.  They are keen to find a Technical Product developer as there current PD is going on Maternity leave.

About the role:

  • Working closely with the design team on development of each collections from initial design concept through to preparation for bulk production
  • Monitor the line-up and track designs, from launch through the development stage to SMS sample, ensuring that the sample Matrix and boards are all constantly updated, monitoring progress and cancellations
  • Follow the critical path and help to ensure that development deadlines are met, flagging issues early to relevant parties, helping to avoid and resolve problems and communicating changes to the team
  • Prior to fabric allocation, provide initial calculations to monitor cost and margin and organise regular reviews through the development process
  • Working together with Design Team to monitor the sampling of raw materials and their allocation to products and ensure appropriate data sheets are prepared and completed in time to support targeted prices, and for handover to the Production team
  • Assign SMS factories with Head of Atelier and Production Director
  • Order seasonal lining and trimmings in line with margins and critical path dates
  • Evaluate all trims and techniques and counter source with suppliers for best prices
  • Launch seasonal print and embroidery layplans with print designer to ensure the correct rating is updated on the BOM
  • Completing the Tech Packs from creation to production handover, ensuring that all parties fill in their relevant areas and that all data is up-to-date and correct, and tracking any changes (BOM, CAD, Make, Lay plans, Model file, Measurements)
  • Attend all fittings from first toile to SMS sample, document fitting notes and communicate the notes to the relevant pattern cutters
  • Making sure that all tapes and fusing’s are marked correctly in the Tech Packs
  • Making sure the finishing’s are the same throughout all styles in each fabric groups and that all information is communicated effectively to each relevant department
  • Measuring of all SMS samples excluding toiles and completing the relevant sections on the Tech Packs
  • Creating and updating a finishing list for the Tech Pack and liaising with the machinists to ensure the highest quality is met
  • Creating a seasonal archive of fabric sewing tests to be carried forward seasonally
  • Overseeing fabric testing, sewing tests and mockups for sampling regarding finishing’s and fusings
  • Ensuring wearing tests and dry-cleaning tests are performed during sampling, considering fabric and finishing’s
  • Maintain consistency of quality and fit across all collections
  • Updating and introducing standards and procedures through the supplier manual
  • Communicate fit, quality and construction requirements to manufactures through sample comments
  • Visiting factories to ensure EW quality and performance standards are met
  • Manage the production of all outsourced SMS samples, liaising with the factories, preparing sample packs and ensuring the samples are delivered, on time and on target
  • Managing quality feed back from EW store and our W/S client to appropriate action to implement improvement
  • Reporting in & Supporting Head of Atelier as required

Candidate

  • Must have previous 5 years of PD experience within the luxury market
  • Strong technical understanding of the luxury market
  • Must be a problem solver able to find innovative solutions in line with creative vision
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing in UK and Europe
  • Excellent understanding of patterns, garment construction and fit
  • Flexibility required at peak times to manage workload
  • Print and embroidery experience
  • Denim, jersey and CMT as well as FFG knowledge
  • Zedonk, Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • Accustomed to working to tight deadlines and being able to multi task across changing priorities
  • A team player with great interpersonal skills
